Success Story:

Success Story"Doors Closed All Around Us – But We Still Served!"

Duane Boady, pastor at Community of Hope Church of the Nazarene in Corydon, IN, began talking to his congregation about Faith in Action a full six months before their community service day.

"I began in April by announcing from the pulpit, 'Six months from now we’re going to leave the building on a Sunday morning and do something special,'" he explained. "And I repeated it fairly often." Service Project Idea:

Create School tool kits for needy children

Gather with people from your church and your community to collect, organize and assemble school kits for needy children. Consider presenting statistics about low-income education in both the United States and the world. Pray that children around the world would have access to education, and that they would flourish.

By providing resources for a child's education, your church will offer support and encouragement, while also showing love and worth to a child. In addition, your church's efforts can influence your greater community to reach out in love to serve the needs of underprivileged children in your area.

If working in your local area, speak with school district personnel to get recommendations on items and containers. If you are interested in donating your school kits to support children outside of your community, visit www.worldvision.org/schooltools.

For statistics about children and education around the world, see www.unicef.org/sowc07.
