It is important to present yourself in a way that will stand out among the other job seekers interviewing for the position. Here are some simple steps to help you prepare for your next interview:

1. Prepare yourself for the interview (whether it is to be by phone or face-to-face).
2. Research the employer, company history, and the position requirements. Today you will usually be able to find much of this information on the company’s website.
3. Be prepared to show how you will be a good fit in the company.
4. Write your questions down beforehand so you won’t fail to ask any that aren’t answered during our discussion.
5. During the interview, be aware of your presentation including: speaking clearly, avoiding stammering or annoying hesitation noises (e.g. frequent nervous clearing of your throat, ahhhhh, ahem, etc.), appearance, posture, and eye contact.
6. Answer interview questions openly and with concise answers.
7. End your interview in a positive way that will leave the good impression on the employer’s mind.
8. Send a thank you note to your interviewer, within a day or two after your meeting.
