Success StoryFaith in Action is a Widespread and Long-Term Effort for St. Paul

"We’re a downtown church," explained Doug Widger, Director of Student and Serve Now Ministries for St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Worth, Texas. "But almost none of our people live downtown; in fact, they’re spread out in 66 different zip codes. We already minister in several ways downtown, but this time we wanted our people to minister where they live. We also wanted Faith in Action to be a catalyst for a lifestyle change towards ministry – not just a one-time, check-the-box-we-did-it program."

Service Project Idea:

Participate in an athletic event to raise awareness and support for a cause.

Organize a group from your congregation to participate in an athletic event (like a 10K, marathon or half-marathon) and raise funds for a particular cause.

Meals on Wheels Association of America (MOWAA) is a member organization representing mostly senior nutrition programs in the United States. Member programs throughout the United States provide nutritious meals and services to men and women who are elderly, homebound, disabled, frail, or at risk. Volunteers with Meals on Wheels help deliver these services to the needy in their community.
